Mickelson Trail Ride 7/9
Heather and I went on another of our (almost) weekly bike adventures on the Mickelson Trail. We decided to not go as far as we have been lately and instead enjoy the sights. The Mystic to Rochford section is beautiful. This is Heather’s favorite part of the trail. And as the old saying goes, Pics or it didn’t happen.
We stopped about half way through to Rochford the visit the spot Heather had a little spill last year. It’s a just a dirt patch overlooking where the creek is particularly strong. The spot is very pretty and Heather actually dipped her feet in the cold, cold water nearby.

Once we got to Rochford, we ate a snack and refilled the water bottles. Heather wasn’t ready to turn around yet as she wanted to keep pushing her limits to prepare for the 3-Day Mickelson Ride she has planned for later this summer. She kept going North to the Dumont Trailhead while I headed back to Mystic to get the car and meet her further up. My ride back was mostly downhill so I would get to the car quickly and catch back up. On my ride back, at mile marker 77, I recorded the little video below.
I actually caught up with Heather about half way between Rochford and Dumont right where the trail and highway meet back up. She was happy to see me since she was starting to worry about getting overheated on her left side. Since she had been riding the same direction the whole day, only that side was getting sun and it was getting uncomfortable. But all in all, it was a good day of riding for both of us.
